Stony Race Pictures

Stony Time Trial

Shelby rocked the tandem today at Stony.  I had a blast & Shelby did somewhere deep inside!  She was a champ.  We ended up 2nd out of 3 tandem teams entered in the event.  The course was dry and fast.  We made all the water crossings and had a few slow speed corner slide outs.  At one point the rear skewer came loose and the rear wheel was slopping around.  A quick fix and no damage done thankfully.  It was great to see a bunch of precisionmtb team mates at the race.  Jim Senska rocked the single speed with a 1st place, way to go Jim.  John S finished strong and the rest of the team did well as far as I know at this point.  I checked the tailwinds site and the results are not posted yet.

Here is a link to the GPS of the race.  We commuted to and from the race from home.  Great day!  Lots of fun & I'm super proud of Shelby!  Here is a link to the pictures.  Click Here

Sunday Morning Ride - 62 Miles

John & I had a good northern Oakland / Southern Lapeer County roll this morning.  One flat tire and lots of water.  4 hours on the bike & I'm eying a new brooks saddle. We got just a little north of I69 at Lake Pleasant road before heading back.  Granted it was not a direct route back but back none the less.  I super nice guy stopped and let us do the flat repair in his drive while he filled our water bottles.  Picked up a new tube and am ready for the commuting week.

Leelanau Rides

I've been having a great time riding in and around Glen Arbor.  I've not ventured too far yet mostly staying around the lakes.  The Scenic Drive is a lot of fun on a bike.  I love this playlist for riding.  The picture on the left was from yesterday, perfect spot for breakfast.  (Cliff Bar)  Here are a few of the GPS posts from recent rides.

Training Ride - First Dutton Hill climb of the season!

I think that hill got bigger over the winter!  858 feet of climb in 10.8 miles.  Good way to start the day.

BTT had a new twist this week. Art exhibit in a very unconventional way

Another great day on the BTT ride.  A few firsts.  Steve joined me for his first BTT ride.  We met up in Royal Oak and headed down.  We had the first tool motorist I've ever run into (not literally) on the ride in Eastern Market.  Hope he's having a great day and feeling more calm.

Midtown had a urban art exhibit on display by Tyree Guyton. From Mlive.com - Tyree knows how to use Detroit as a canvas.  Titled "Street Folk," the work includes more than 10,000 shoes covering Edmund Street at Woodward. Like his Heidelberg polka dots, Guyton says the shoes are meant to raise awareness about a social issue. In this case, homelessness.

The exhibit was impactful and it had a spiritual air about it.  One of the riders kept saying I've never seen anything like this, I don't know what to say.  If you have a chance check it out in Midtown.   People were asked to send in their shoes and a story that went with them.  The letters were posted along the fence.  I took a picture of a few of them but there are many more there.

We did the default route today, great pace on the island, lost the chain twice until Brian B hooked me up and towed me around the island.
